Fred Bartholomew is Michigan’ Grandfather Clock Repair Expert

As Michigan’s own grandfather clock repair expert, Fred continues his passion today at the level of a craftsman, especially with antique, grandfather clocks. He takes pride in his craft and his ability to revive 200- plus year-old antiques.

In 1971, Fred began his formal training at the Seth Thomas factory repair center Dallas, Texas. He became a craftsman for the company that began in 1817. Fred also worked as an associate of Ray Weil, considered one of the foremost clock and watch repairman in the world. Weil began his association with Nieman Marcus in the 1970’s.

He also enjoys the challenge of keeping today’s modern timepieces moving forward.

Fred’s customers are genuinely pleased when he greets them at their door. “In most cases, I can repair my clients’ clocks in their homes,” explained Fred. “I try to avoid transporting clocks back and forth. Especially the taller, antiques or family heirlooms.”

It’s this type of attention that Fred uses to service all of his customers. He never advertises. Fred’s business and reputation grows from his customers’ satisfaction and their subsequent referrals.
